Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi; we know the Church at prayer does meditate on Christ’s love as the ultimate expression of God’s most wise plan for us all, the plan for which human beings came into existence – to be swept up to the life of God. This is the theme of the great Solemnity of Christ the King, for example. It is also the focus of the central mystery of the Rosary, the crowning with thorns; the tragedy of Divine kingship is rejected, the all wise plan of love is spurned. We move from heart to head. For in popular symbolism as well as biology it is the head that regulates the heart.
